AMT releases a new version of the '66 Nova kit with new parts and markings to replicate Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins' famous drag car. New open wheels and base-model Nova front and rear bench seats have been tooled to more accurately depict the actual car. Decals include markings for both the original red and white car which was destroyed in a fire and the follow up all-white car. Desirable Retro Deluxe? packaging emulates AMT's collectable 1966 styling and features all new illustrations of Jenkins' car and a mild custom version. The kit can also be built in factory stock or custom
form with motor, wheel and interior options!

This is a nice kit, some trimming and sanding involved like most models. The bench seat and steel rims are now included but they did not go far enough. This kit is designed for a console shifter, not a bench seat shifter and there is no shift boot on the shifter nor is the hole for the shifter in the right place because the hole is where the console mounts. You will need to fill the hole in the floor hump and make another one close to the seat where the shifter belongs. I ended up painting a fake boot on the floor and a chrome ring around it. Still it is the wrong shifter for this application. I also did not like that there is no tachometer in the kit. A big problem with this kit is the poor quality rear slicks that were not properly molded and did not fit the rims tightly. I ended up using black silicone RTV to fill in the gaps. The front springs do not fit the lower arms properly and need to be narrowed at the bottom. You will need to do a lot of bare metal foil or chrome paint trim with this model. There is a decal for the roof stripes. AMT still has some work to do to make this a proper Jenkins Nova kit.
