1933 Willys Coupe Model KitLegend has it that in 1958 a friend of Ohio George Montgomery's told him he had seen an "ugly 'ol Willys" that was running and drivable located at a salvage yard in Hillsboro, Ohio. George bought the car for $100 and quickly added a fresh motor, blower and transmission. George completed the work in time to compete in the NHRA Nationals in Detroit in 1959. The car won both the "A" Class and "Little Eliminator" Classes. It was here that George introduced the "concrete brick" spare tire to optimize rear weight distribution. This innovation demonstrated his racing ingenuity, but was later banned by the NHRA. In 1964 George's Willys was selected as one of the ten best American drag cars to participate in the US Drag Festival in England.

I recently bought this kit and am in the process of building it. It is a nice kit but maybe a bit small for 125 kit. It is molded in light blue but will need to be painted if you remove the mold lines on the body and hood. Find some 1953 cadillac pastoral blue paint from scaleautofinishes.com. That is the correct color. Comes with two sets of rear wheels to choose from. Also can be built with a clear roof insert so the extensive interior detail can be seen. The kit comes with a 16 page book of pictures of the real car to use as reference. I dechromed several pieces to paint some parts to be correct. If you love the history of the old gassers you need this kit.
