Item DescriptionAllied troops had to counter thickly armored German tanks during WWII. American infantry were equipped with the famous bazooka, but something extra was still needed for light forces to help them counter the enemy armor threat. One solution was the M20 recoilless rifle, which was developed by the Ordnance Development Small Arms Division from 1944 onwards. The key feature of a recoilless rifle is that the perforated shell casing and rear-vented breech greatly reduce the level of recoil. Production of the M20 commenced in March 1945, meaning only limited numbers saw service in the closing days of WWII. Instead, the 75mm M20 recoilless rifle saw considerable use in the Korean War, but despite being designed as an anti-armor weapon it proved inadequate when engaging the T-34.
Dragonís newest 1/6 scale weapon kit is an M20 recoilless rifle. The original 2.08m-long weapon has been perfectly scaled down, and the model is replete with fine detail.
