This handcrafted Albratros D.V "Goring" 1/20 scale model is painstakingly built by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail. The Albatros D.V was a fighter aircraft used by the Imperial German Air Service during World War I. The D.V was the final development of the Albatros D.I family, and the last Albatros fighter to see operational service. The D.V entered service in May 1917 and, like the D.III before it, immediately began experiencing structural failures of the lower wing. Furthermore, the D.V offered very little improvement in performance. This caused considerable dismay among frontline pilots, many of whom preferred the older D.III. Despite its shortcomings, approximately 900 D.V were built before production halted in early 1918.
This specific Albatros D.V is painted as "Goring" or Herman Göring's airplane. Göring was a WWI ace fighter pilot, German politician, military leader, and leading member of the Nazi Party.
This handcrafted model is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail and makes a great gift for any veteran, aviation enthusiast or history buff.
